Sky were exploring alternative ways to offer broadband upgrades and regrades to their existing digital TV customers who already had an active broadband package with Sky or another service provider.

The goal was to enable customers to browse products, upgrade or switch to Sky broadband via the Sky Q or Sky + platforms through their TV.

Backend system checks of existing broadband details, such as availability, address and landline checks, would allow a range of tailored products to be shown to the customers, alongside relevant options and any mandatory upgrades required to hardware or monthly subscription.

  • Design Considerations

    • Specific order journeys required for both existing Sky Broadband customers and those wishing to switch over from another provider
    • Customers must be informed, and be able to apply / arrange any requirements specific to their sign up or upgrade with regards to additional hardware, agreeing mandatory talk packages or arranging engineer visits
    • Interface layout and navigation must sit within existing design rules and capabilities of the hardware remote
    • All one-off and monthly payment costs to be shown within the billing area with a clear itemised breakdown
