Sky were exploring new ways to offer broadband upgrades and regrades to their existing TV customers who already had an active Sky broadband package or with another service provider.

The aim was to enable customers to browse products, upgrade, or switch to Sky Broadband directly through their television via the Sky Q or Sky+ platforms.

Backend system checks, such as service availability, address validation, and landline status would enable tailored product options to be presented alongside relevant upgrade paths and any mandatory changes to hardware or subscription plans.

  • Design Considerations

    • Defined order journeys required for both existing Sky Broadband customers and those wishing to switch over from another provider
    • Ensured customers were clearly informed of, and able to arrange, any requirements related to their sign-up or upgrade such as additional hardware, mandatory talk packages, or engineer appointments
    • All one-off and monthly payment costs to be shown within the billing area with a clear itemised breakdown
    • Interface layout and navigation must sit within platforms existing design rules and capabilities of the hardware remote
